Bori Bunder in Mumbai was the first railway station in India. The first passenger train was flagged off from Bori Bunder to Thane in 1853. This station was rebuilt as Victoria Terminus later in 1888, named after Queen Victoria. Later, in 1996, this was renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, which is the main station of Mumbai.
Longest platform station:
If we talk about the longest platform, Gorakhpur railway station has the longest railway platform not only in India but in the world. Platform number 1 of this station is the longest platform with a length of 1355 meters.However, soon the Hubballi railway station in Karnataka will achieve this feat. Howrah junction of West Bengal holds this record, which has 23 platforms. More than 10 lakh passengers travel through these platforms every day.

Again this record has been held by Howrah station. Around 617 passenger trains pass through the station each day serving more than a million passengers. This is the highest train handling capacity of any Indian railway station.

Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta Railway Station was the longest name railway station in India. However, the honour now belongs to PuratchiThalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, which is the real name of Chennai Central.
Shortest name railway station:
The railway station named Ib is the station with the shortest name in India. This railway station is in the state of Orissa. The famous station derives its name from the Ib river, which is a tributary of Mahanadi.
