Health experts and researchers across the world are still busy demystifying the Omicron variant and making an effective strategy against it, yet another Corona variant named Delmicron has knocked the world.
The surge in cases of Omicron in European countries have raised concerns about the possibility of a third wave of COVID-19 worldwide, but experts believe that this strain, named Delmicron, is responsible for increasing infections in the US and Europe. In this context, it is important to understand about this variant.
What is Delmicron?
Delmicron, like other variants of Corona, is not a completely new variant of it. It is a combination of existing variants Delta and Omicron. This cocktail variant of coronavirus is spreading rapidly in western countries.
Delta Variant:
The Delta variant had caused massive havoc between April and June this year and caused a second wave in India. Millions of people succumbed to this variant worldwide. The delta variant causes severe symptoms and an even higher risk of hospitalization. The post complications of the Delta variant have also proved to be very lethal.
Omicron variant:

Omicron spreads the fastest among the variants so far, but so far the number of deaths due to this variant is very low. The number of people hospitalized due to this variant is also less. However, experts believe that the Omicron variant reduces immunity from vaccination. Early symptoms of an Omicron infection include sore throat, headache, and fatigue. The smell and taste also go away after being infected with Omicron.
Experts on Delmicron:
Delmicron is made up of a combination of Delta and Omicron variants, so it is considered to be more rapidly spreading and lethal. It will be important in the few days to observe such cases. Not much study has been done on this but according to experts, its initial symptoms are high fever, persistent cough, loss or change in olfactory sense, headache, running nose and sore throat.
Prevention:
The preventive measures remain as others for this variant too. People must follow the COVID appropriate behaviour by observing social distancing, keeping masks on and washing hands regularly.
